Biogas Energy

Biogas typically refers to a gas produced by the biological breakdown of organic matter in the absence of oxygen (anaerobic digestion). Biogas offers highly cost-effective, renewable, and decentralized energy production for domestic and commercial consumers. Pakistan did try biogas production in the Seventies but it could not succeed due to a lack of technology and awareness among the communities. Recent technological advancements in biogas digesters especially the Dome Shaped Digester has greatly helped in developing highly efficient, economically viable, environment and user friendly biogas plant, which is successfully being developed and operated using indigenous construction material and equipment. It is successfully being used in China, many other countries including Pakistan for biogas production using cow dung and biomass. Biogas is extensively produced in China and India using anaerobic digestion techniques and currently, over fifty million households are using dome-shaped digesters in China.

Sewage & Waste Recycling

The municipal, commercial and tourism industry sewage and waste recycling has always been a challenge in Pakistan. Most of the untreated sewage and solid waste is dumped on land and water causing serious environmental pollution. Foul order and smell coupled with insect, flies and unhygienic environment is the immediate consequences of unsustainable sewage and waste management as most of domestic and commercial facilities do not provide adequate sewage and waste recycling facilities. Consequently, the pristine environment of air, land and water resources is heavily polluted. Recent developments in sewage and waste recycling in advance countries have greatly helped in sustainable recycling of the decomposable waste like sewage and organic solid waste on spot using dome shaped sewage recycling digesters that produce biogas and decomposed manure from the sewage and waste beside controlling emission of Greenhouse Gases.

These decentralized dome shaped sewage recycling digesters are now being successfully installed in Pakistan. The successful model can easily be replicated aiming at protecting precious air, land and water resources from sewage and decomposable solid waste pollution. The decentralized dome shaped sewage recycling digester pictures are given bellow and the service provider Company can be contacted at their address and contacts given below.

Biogas and Renewable Energy Technology

BENEFITS OF BIOGAS

The global interest in renewable energy sources is growing. Biogas production is steadily increasing as more people set up biogas plants to produce biogas. To give you a better idea of what biogas is good for, we’ve put together this list of biogas benefits.

BIOGAS POTENTIAL IN PAKISTAN

Pakistan has got tremendous potential of exploiting this huge untapped potential of renewable sources of energy. In addition, biomass of all kinds including poultry waste, biodegradable solid and sewage waste. This can prove as a major source of income generation in rural areas through energy production, organic farming and earning carbon credits under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) that can also help in controlling emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere.

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS OF BIOGAS

  • Biogas is environmentally clean, hygienic for the households and human environment.
  • Biogas plant ensures safe handling of the farmyard manure without any problems of health and hygiene in the vicinity of the household.

SOCIAL BENEFITS OF BIOGAS

Biogas, being a clean source of domestic energy is socially acceptable as it will replace the dirty and socially non-acceptable sources of domestic energy like cow dung cakes, fuel-wood that emits smokes and cause indoor pollution; a major contributor of tuberculosis in Pakistan.
